"Bernie" lives in Charlottetown with his life partner and two energetic boys, their golden retriever Nellie and Augie the family tomcat.  You can find him most days buzzing around the local Charlottetown Farmers' Market Coop as its Manager and dedicated patron.  He is also a registered massage therapist working part time in a multidisciplinary clinic located downtown.  Bernie worked for over 8 years with the National youth program Katimavik where he developed his strong sense of serving his community. Presently he serves as President of the ALS Society of PEI, Chair of the PEI Coop Council and Registrar of the PEI Massage Therapy Association.

Meghan Adams

Meghan is a Health Promoter in PEI’s Chief Public Health Office and has a Masters in Science in Global Health and Development, with a particular research focus on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. She is passionate about reducing social and health inequities (such as food insecurity) through sustainable solutions, population-level approaches and healthy public policies. 

Meghan is a believer in the power of community connection and she remains active in her home community of Charlottetown through volunteer, work and sport. Meghan’s love of food can be credited to her parents and grandparents who raised and taught her in their own kitchens and gardens. Although she loves to explore the world, Meghan always feels so fortunate to call PEI home. 

Phil Ferraro

Phil Ferraro

Phil Ferraro, is a founding director of The Institute for Bioregional Studies Ltd., a founding  member of the Atlantic Canada Organic Regional Network,  board of director of the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation, and an Advisor to the Centre for Local Prosperity.

Phil's Master’s degree in Social Ecology included a thesis on creating food and energy self-reliance in Northern climates, with studies in organic agriculture community development and social responsibility.

Since 1999, Phil has managed a series of far reaching programs on behalf of the PEI ADAPT Council and Agriculture Canada. These programs have invested over $12 million in innovative projects that are changing the face of agriculture as they adopt sustainable practices and respond to emerging issues. He is also the manager of the Farm Centre and Legacy Garden (Canada’s largest urban food garden.) This initiative provides garden space for people to grow their own food and donates food to charities to help alleviate food insecurity.

Sheena Mathew

Sheena lives in Charlottetown with her two children and her husband. She has 20+ years of experience in the healthcare field, working currently for an Ophthalmologist. Sheena is also a Co-Owner of 4S Catering with her husband. In the community, she is involved in multiple organizations like 4 Love 4 Care, Kerala Association of Prince Edward Island as the former president and present Board of Director, and the Prince Edward Island Youth Chess Association. You can find her at the Farmers Market on the weekends and around the community providing free meals for those in need each month.
