Lace Up Your Skates: New Simmons Sports Centre Now Open

Get ready to hit the ice, Charlottetown: the new Simmons Sports Centre opens today.
“Now that the necessary repairs and tests have been done, we’re thrilled to open the Simmons Sports Centre to the public,” said Mitchell Tweel, Chair of the City’s Parks, Recreation and Leisure Committee. “We know Charlottetown residents have been anxiously awaiting this day and we want them to know their patience has paid off.”
The opening of the centre was delayed from Oct. 14 after an infrastructure leak was discovered in the arena concrete floor slab which prevented staff from making ice.
Extensive work and tests have been carried out to locate the leak and make the required repairs.
The centre will open to the public today at 3 p.m.
