We are now accepting applications for Rooted in Art 2025!
Rooted in Art is a celebration of Charlottetown’s beautiful urban forest, showcasing art installations created by local artists that highlight the city's trees in fresh, imaginative ways. This initiative allows participants to experience Charlottetown’s trees through the unique perspectives of local artists, fostering deeper appreciation and interaction with these vital natural assets.
Rooted in Art celebrates the vital role trees play in the urban environment. From the aesthetic beauty to the essential services trees provide – such as air purification, wind blocking, noise buffering and stormwater management – this initiative seeks to deepen the community’s connection with nature and highlight the importance of the urban forest.

How To Apply
This program invites Island artists, from budding creatives to seasoned professionals, to create temporary art installations inspired by Charlottetown’s trees.
This year, the City invites artists to submit ideas for installations with a focus on culture and heritage in Charlottetown. The City is inviting artists to submit ideas for installations that speak to the connections between trees and the stories of the people and places around them. Applicants are asked to demonstrate traditional or cultural art forms directly through their chosen mediums, use their art installation to tell a story or reflect their culture, or to explore and interpret Charlottetown’s history through their installation.
