Indoor Facilities

There are four arenas (five ice surfaces) located within the City of Charlottetown, with the Charlottetown Parks and Recreation Department directly operating two of the arenas: Simmons Sports Centre and Cody Banks Arena. The remaining two arenas are operated by boards of directors: Charlottetown Eastlink Centre and The Bell Aliant Centre.

Simmons Sport Centre

Located on North River Road, the arena's primary users include Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association, Charlottetown Figure Skating Club, Charlottetown Ringette Organization, Recreation Leagues, Schools and the general public. 

The facility is open Monday to Sunday from 7am to 10pm. This includes the walking track, which is free to use. 

For 2025, the facility is closed January 1, April 18, May 19, July 1, August 4, September 1, December 25 and December 26.

The Simmons Sports Centre features include the following:

Cody Banks Arena

Located in the neighborhood of Sherwood off Maple Avenue, the arena’s primary users include the Sherwood/Parkdale Rural Minor Hockey Association, Sherwood/Parkdale Skating Club, A&S Scrap Metal Junior B Metros, Adult Rec Hockey League, Schools and the general public.

During the off-season the facility is available to be booked for a variety of special events.
The banquet facility, The Maplewood Room, boasts a seating capacity of 220 people with full kitchen and bar facilities available. The building is available for functions such as wedding receptions, anniversary parties and any other special event for which the room is suitable.

Bell Aliant Centre

The Capital Area Recreation Inc. Board, better known as the CARI Board, is an arms-length board of directors that including a representative from the City of Charlottetown, University of Prince Edward Island, Town of Stratford and Charlottetown Y's Mens Club. They oversee the operations of the Bell Aliant Centre.

This facility features an Aquatics facility with a competitive and leisure pool, 2 NHL sized ice surfaces, the Seniors Active Living Centre, Andrews Hockey Growth Programs, Subway and the UPEI Fitness Centre.

The arena section of the facility includes:

  • MacLauchlan Arena A - 1,400 Fixed Seating
  • MacLauchlan Arena B - 400 Fixed Seating
  • two rooms available for Rent Rink A Penalty Box Lounge / Rink B Meeting Room
  • 12 dressing rooms
  • on-location skate sharpening company

Charlottetown Eastlink Centre

The Charlottetown Eastlink Centre is operated by an arms length board of directors, including a representative from the City of Charlottetown and the Province of Prince Edward Island. This facility is ideally suited to hosting sporting, concerts, socials, meetings, and trade show events.

The Eastlink Centre features include the following:

  • NHL-sized ice surface
  • Portable Homosote ice cover
  • 17,000 sq. ft. floor
  • 3,400 fixed seating
  • 1,700 portable seating press box

The Trade Centre's showpiece is its Main Exhibition Hall. It covers one full acre and offers great flexibility for event planners.
