2026 Business Tree Planting Challenge
The City of Charlottetown is pleased to host the annual
Business Tree Planting Challenge, an initiative designed to engage the local
business community in environmental stewardship and urban forest enhancement.
Through this program, participating businesses contribute to a greener, more
sustainable Charlottetown while demonstrating their commitment to corporate
environmental responsibility.
Originally proposed by McInnes Cooper in 2014, the Business
Tree Planting Challenge supports the City’s urban forestry goals and offers a
valuable opportunity for employee engagement and team building.
For the 2026 Business Tree Planting Challenge, the
participation fee is $25 per tree, along with a $50 fee per
participating organization to help cover the cost of mulch, compost, and
site preparation materials. Participating businesses provide volunteers for the
planting day. City staff provide guidance, equipment, and on-site instructions
to ensure successful planting.
By participating in the Business Tree Planting Challenge,
local businesses play an important role in expanding Charlottetown’s urban tree
canopy, improving environmental sustainability, and enhancing the quality of
life for residents and visitors alike.
