The City of Charlottetown Emergency Measures team and EMO partners remain focused on coordinated recovery efforts. The City wishes to reassure the public that it is monitoring the situation closely and will continue providing updates as they become available.

The City has opened Reception Centres that are providing some comforts such as Wi-Fi, municipal water (bring your own drinking container), small snacks and power to charge personal devices.

• Open burning is not permitted.

• When operating chainsaws, practice extreme caution and wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing.

• Slow down on the roadways and treat non-working traffic signals as a four way stop.

• Barbeques and cooking appliances are not to be used indoors and this includes garages and balconies.

• Generators must be used outdoors and away from any building openings.

• Do not attempt to clear trees or branches away from downed power lines.

• Do not pile tree debris on the roadway.

• Crews are continuing clean up efforts on trails and in parks.

Where possible and if it is safe to do so, residents are encouraged to cut tree branches into pieces four (4) feet in length or shorter and place them next to the roadway.

To assist with the clean up efforts, pieces that are wider than 10 inches in diameter should be cut down into pieces that are two (2) feet in length or shorter.

As a reminder, please do not pile other garbage or debris with the tree branches and stumps as this will slow down the clean up efforts as they are not part of the tree debris pick up. Public Works crews are picking up the tree debris. Due to volume, however, this work will continue for several days.
