The City of Charlottetown is inviting applications for the 2026 Climate Action Microgrant Program. Eligible projects can receive up to $2,500 to help turn community-based environment and sustainability ideas into action.
Microgrants are available to individuals or community organizations who are planning an event or project that works towards the goals and actions of the City’s Climate Action Plan. Projects must take place in Charlottetown and be completed by the end of January 2027.
Eligible applications will be reviewed by a selection committee based on creativity, project feasibility, community impact, and meeting the Climate Action Plan goals.
The City’s Climate Action Plan is guided by 10 core themes. Eligible projects must align with the goals and actions outlined in at least one of these themes:
- Climate Equity and Reconciliation
- Emergency Preparedness
- Food Security
- Efficient and Resilient Buildings
- Renewable Energy and Energy Storage
- Sustainable Transportation
- Natural Assets and Green Infrastructure
- Adapted Critical Infrastructure
- Governance
- Education and Communication
Since the program began in 2011, more than $215,000 in funding has supported more than 100 Charlottetown community sustainability projects and events, ranging from a coffee pod recycling initiative to a backup power and emergency readiness program to an edible garden tour. Deadline for completed applications and support materials is 4:00pm on May 15th, 2026.
