City Seeking Artist Proposals for 2026 Charlottetown Arts and Culture Award Design
The City of Charlottetown is inviting proposals from Island artists for the design and creation of four handcrafted awards to be presented at the Charlottetown Arts and Culture Awards Ceremony in March 2026.
The awards must be durable, suitable for presentation on stage, and designed for long-term display in a home or office. While sculpture is welcome, the City encourages inventive approaches in any medium including fabric, stained glass, paper, prints or other materials as long as durability is considered. Each piece must incorporate the following text: “Charlottetown Arts and Culture Awards 2026,” as well as the name of the award category, the recipient’s name, and the City of Charlottetown logo.
The total commission available is $2,000 (+HST, if applicable) for all four awards, or $500 for each individual award.
This call is open to all artists who reside in Charlottetown or Epekwitk/Prince Edward Island. Artists who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), LGBTQS2SIA+, and/or people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must submit an online application form with the following materials:
• Artist contact information
• A statement of up to 500 words outlining the proposed design, including materials, finished size, and artistic approach
• One to three sketches or images of the proposed design in JPEG, PNG, GIF, or PDF format
• An artist CV or resume of no more than two pages
Applicants may also choose to include self-identification information.
The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. local time on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025. Late applications will not be considered.
The successful artist will be notified by Nov. 20, 2025. The names of category recipients will be provided to the artist in February 2026, with the finished awards to be delivered by March 4, 2026.
