Temporary Water Discolouration Feb. 11

UPDATE: Water System Maintenance Results in Temporary Water Discolouration
Posted on 02/11/2026
The City of Charlottetown advises residents and businesses that maintenance conducted on the water system on the evening of Feb. 10 released excess sediment within the system, causing temporary water discolouration.

Crews are actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. While significant progress has been made, system flushing will continue into this evening.

Water discolouration may persist in some areas over the next several hours. Residents are advised to run cold water from a bathtub tap or faucet for up to five minutes or until the water runs clear. If the water does not run clear after five minutes, please wait one hour and try again.

Although there has been no indication of bacteria within the system, residents should not consume water that is discoloured.

Please check the City’s social media for the latest updates.
