In 2024, the Royal Canadian Air Force marks its 100-year anniversary as a distinct military element. “RCAF Centennial Groves” are commemorative public projects that will see a combination of trees, shrubs, tulips, other plants and hardscaping elements incorporated into beautifully landscaped memorials in several cities across Canada.
Seven different communities, from Alberta to the Martimes, have committed to hosting a centennial grove, including the grove being unveiled outside the Malcolm J. Darrach Community Centre in Charlottetown. The event will feature various special guests providing remarks about the significance of the centennial anniversary, followed by a ceremonial planting of the “final” tree as part of the commemorative grove. A plaque unveiling will also be incorporated.
